Isolated Heroes is the luxury ready to wear label by designer Samantha McEwen.
From the overall hype and media attention surrounding Samantha's graduate collection "Voodoo Zumbies" and through the phenomenal feedback since the graduate show has ensured the immediate launch of the Isolated Heroes label.
Merging a kaleidoscope of inspirations and techniques Samantha's pieces are desirably unique while retaining a strong wearable ethic. The brand uses a rainbow of vivid clashing colours, distinct tribal prints, illustrative embroidery techniques, oversized silhouettes and over embellishment. Built up of entirely wearable, durable yet delicate and exclusive pieces with a distinct Street Wear feel. Isolated Heroes is predominantly a Unisex label with the idea of bringing Optimistic Clothing and a fierce sense of identity into the designer market. It primarily forms and reflects the air of excitement flooding through the new generation of London's young and amazing.

Alongside all the crazy Scottish Fashion Awards news and all the celebrating I have still been working like a super trooper in the studio as we have so many different projects on at the moment so there hasn't really been an opportunity to slow down or stop. This weekend I leant out my entire Vooodoo Zumbies SS12 collection and a few extra pieces to Auntie Flo for the filming of their new music video in Dalston Superstore. It was really refreshing meeting the actual band rather than a stylist and was so much fun packing them full of pieces for their film. I so wish I could have been down in London for the day to see it all come together and how everything was styled unfortuantely I had a long weekend of making up orders ahead of me. I can't wait to see the finished product of the music video and the pictures of them performing in Fabric in my collection! So exciting! So Friday brought the news that I had been nominated for Young Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards!!! To say i was squealing with excitement would be an understatement! I am still so overwhelmed and slightly shaken about being nominated it just proves that anything is possible when you put your mind to it and hard work really does pay off! Only ten months has past since I graduated and completed my degree at Heriot - Watt University and it is slightly insane to be nominated for such a high profile award and to be attending the Scottish Fashion Awards alongside some of my true fashion idols - Louise Gray, Christopher Kane etc. The last ten months have literally been a whirlwind for me since graduating I have set up my own label, moved into not one but two different studio spaces, Opened my online ASOS store selling our RTW line & diffusion pieces and dressed some incredible ladies - Kreayshawn, MC Gaff E, Charli XCX to name but a few and contributed to some of my all time favourite magazines & editorials : i-D, Idol, I love Fake etc. I really feel that this nomination has marked a milestone in my career as an actual designer and just proves how far you can come in a short space of time and that anything really is possible when you are passionate about something. So I would like to say a massive thank you to Tessa Hartmann and the whole Scottish Fashion Awards team. In two weeks we have two MAJOR shows going on!!!!! May the 1st brings NIGHTWALK SS12 where we will be showing our BIGGEST BADDEST collection to date with 12 models storming the runway in our threads. We are going to bring an explosion of colour, prints, sequins, shaggy dyed barbie furs, head chains & multi coloured tassel jackets. This ready to wear collection really means a lot to us as its the first little collection we have made with our new studio team. Myself, Tarka & Rosa my amazing new studio assistants. It also marks a kinda stepping stone for us of some other exciting things that will be coming later in the year. On May the 3rd we are also soooooo excited to be providing clothes for the first ever HAIR FOR HEROES hair show. The last week has been crazy busy in the studio! It's normally mental busy in the run up to the new stock launch but this time we have also had magazines in interviewing, people in filming and lots of students from Dundee college coming in to visit. Lots of pleasant distractions from frantically finishing the new stock before the Spring Summer launch! Today we launched the new season on ASOS and we will be showcasing the new season at NIGHTWALK on the 1st of may! Get your tickets NOW! Remember those ghetto 90's furs I designed a while ago when I was going through a complete clueless obsession! Well today they are down in London and off to a shoot for i-D magazine!!!! UNREAL!!! At the moment there are only two of each jacket but we have had sooooo much interest in the faux furs that we are going to release two for sale next week!!! Last Sunday I received an urgent email from the amazing Leeann Soki Mak saying she was working on a shoot in the area and wanted to see if I had anything she could use. I jumped at the chance as I have admired Leeann's styling work for such a long time and there have often been times when she has wanted to borrow garments but it has always been a case of wrong time and place or the garments already out on loan. Therefor I couldn't miss the opportunity of her styling some Isolated Heroes pieces when she was on Scottish soil. This girl has awesome style ... shaggy coloured furs, Indian jewlz and stripper heels! She also happens to be an incredible stylist with work published in editorials such as BULLET, i-D, Disorder & Idol magazine to name a few as well as a top spot most fashion weeks on radio one extra. I had literally just got home from a shoot in Glasgow when I received the email and therefor contacted her back and got the clothes to her as fast as possible. So fast that the case hadn't even been opened from our shoot the day before. I didn't realise at the time that the shoot was actually for the St Andrews charity fashion show "Don't Walk" Where my friend Vanita Nathwani was modelling. Small world. This week I also achieved one of my childhood ambitions, being asked to contribute to i-D Magazine!!!!!!! To some of you this might not be that big or important but to me this is genuinely THE BIGGEST THING EVERRRR!!!! Thank you to the lovely stylist Ricky Briggs who has borrowed pieces for the i-D shoot. Right now I can't say who the client is and what it is they are shooting but all ya'll need to know is to look out for Isolated Heroes in the forthcoming issues of i-D!!!!! This week has been MENTAL for editorials and publications we have been featured in not one but two editorials in the space of a week andddddddddd also had the pleasure of being interviewed for FLUXX magazine right here in our lovely studio in Dundee. There is a real buzz in the studio just now with so many different projects going on and a strong interest in Isolated Heroes from within the industry it is fantastic being acknowledged and on the radar by some of the top buyers, stylists and editorials in the business! I really think 2012 is away to be our year! With so many exciting things happening already and an ever growing online support from fans and followers of the label all the attention is helping Isolated Heroes expand and evolve into a proper street wear label in 2012.

SOOOOOOOO bloody much to catch everyone up on! SO Saturday was literally the best shoot I honestly think I have ever been on. Not only was I working with an amazing group of people who gelled so well making the shoot completely non diva hassle free. I had also been working closely with the photographer Kirstin Kerr leading up to the shoot and we both seemed to have a clear focus of the images we wanted to achieve both hoping to work in a similar style. We had The insanely talented Lou Clave on wigs and hair and the incredible Tammy from DIY nails creating some insane talons! I had also worked closely with Kirstin scouting the perfect model type for the shoot we wanted to go for a real androgynous look preferably girls with shaved heads and boys with long hair to mix it up a little and fit in with the whole labels "genderless" clothing idea. After weeks of trawling the Internet like a couple of creeps we finally found the perfect pair - Ruta Škėmaitė & Stevie Newall. It is extremely rare for a huge group of strangers to come together on a shoot and all seem to be on exactly the same creative wave length all being completely focused wanting to achieve the same outcome. It seemed that everyone who came to help on Saturday had stepped into my "magic pony land" brain and new exactly what I was talking about all day which resulted in AMAZING shots which completely capture the whole ethos of the label creating "optimistic clothing for the new generation of the UK's young and amazing."
Thank you also to Athif Dean for teaching us all how to do henna and my wonderful team: Abigail Donaldson, Rosa Howie & Hanna Mcallister. The shots are truly phenomenal although we cannot leak any now as we are patiently waiting for editorials. - Mar 08, 12
So everyone who has been following the blog / facebook will know that our little Studio team is growing! I now work with the amazing Abigail who has taken on the humongous role of marketing, pr, emails and keeping track of all the ASOS orders and I also have two studio assistants. I so wanna write a big post on the production of these as so many fun photo's were taken during the week of screen printing hell. Literally everyone in the studio covered head to toe in dye! So we have been busy ripping apart some vintage Leathers for our online ASOS store. Completely reconstructing each jacket adding in AMAZZZZZZING Isolated Heroes African Tribal print linings which have been hand embroidered with a HUGE isolated heroes logo and hand embellishing with hundreds of studs! So we were in London also this week for some top secret buisnezzz where we had to make a pretty bitching outfit! We went for a signature ISOLATED HEROES laser cut jacket with screen printed sleeves and drop crotch harem pants! The pants were made from original African print wax cotton which had then been screen printed on top of with illustrations of the AWA in a sickkkkk black print! We then printed small motifs and hand embroidered them with red wool and strips of raffia adding these to the trousers and finishing the jacket with some ILL 1990's Gianna Versace esque gold buttons appliqued round the jacket collar. Although we can't give anything away and show you the finished outfit here is a little peak into what we have been busy creating. You will need to stay tuned to find out more ... - Feb 07, 12

Our all time favourite is BACK WITH A MUTHHHHAAAAAAAA FUCKIN BANG!!!! MIA's Bad girls is mind blowing!! Catchiest tune of 2012 and the sickest video thanks to Romain Gavras. Have literally listened to it about 200 times this weekend! MY CHAIN HITS MY CHEST WHEN IM BANGING ON THE DASHBOARD. MY CHAIN HITS MY CHEST WHEN IM BANGING ON THE RADIO!
